First Part of Holidays

Ok..after some complains, I've decided to drag my lazy fingers and brain to blog again. You see, I was never a blogger, and never got into the blogging thing altogether. But since I came here, I decided to start blogging for the benefit of those close friends so that they'd know what I've been up to.

Haha, proved harder than I thought cause I'm not blogging material, and never got use to the idea of writing out my doings (thats why I've never kept a diary of sorts). Pictures are so much better. Hee..oh well, but I'll try my best! Here goes again. And when I have the time, I'll blog on the car plates and the sort of weird sushi flavours they have here. Its pretty cool! =D

Its been the holidays, and I've not been doing much! Just lazing around, and chilling with my friends here. Shopping, sightseeing, relaxing at my friend's house, partying, the works. Nothing much though, but in my opinion, its been one of the best holidays so far. There's just something about not worrying about anything in the world, doing whatever I want, relaxing and enjoying my own and my friends' company. Maybe the fact that the parents are not here also contributes a huge part to it. But I don't think so, cause I've not done anything which need the parents' permission. I guess sometimes its just nice to have a quiet holiday, or a quiet weekend. Stay in, chill, and just do simple/therapeutic stuff, like clearing out the garbage. Haha, I was helping my friend clear out heaps and heaps of plastic coke bottles cause he was too lazy to throw them out. I placed them in the recycling bin, and felt so good after that, like I killed 2 birds with 1 stone! I cleared his place, and did something environmental friendly. Soooo therapeutic man. You guys should try it. Just stay in one weekend, and maybe clear your room. Don't think so much, just throw whatever thats useless. The more you dwell on its sentimental value, the more you'll keep it! After clearing out bagloads from your room, the feeling of accomplishment is GREAT. Try it some time!

This was one of the weekends, me and my friends went to this K-Mart in the suburbs that opens 24 hours! We didn't buy anything much, just touch here touch there, play with stuff, fiddle with the gadgets, press all the buttons on the dolls. On the whole, just being a whole lot irritating to the K-Mart staff. Haha, thats why they kept walking pass where we were! Checking on us it seems! Hee, lucky we didn't get into trouble.

Miss bunny wabbit.

HUMONGOUS panties!!!

I totally love this nike dunks!! Went shopping one day at Smith Street, saw this, totally fell in love with it, plus my friend had this 30% discount thing, so the price fell to 60 bucks!! But save money I MUST!! I only buy stuff that scream to me. This dunks sure did! But when I tried it on, it didn't scream as hard as when I saw it on the shelf. Nevertheless, I shall post it for you guys to admire.

Intricate designs.

Then one day, while I was taking the tram home from the suburbs, I fell asleep half-way cause it was an hour's ride, and when I woke up and look out, I saw this familiar face crossing the road. Lo and behold, its matthias!! Wasn't too sure, so I rang up mummy, and she connected me to him. Haha, such a coincidence! He was here on holiday by himself, staying at his friend's apartment. Plus since his friend is working, I offered to bring him out! Pulled along a few friends, and off we went shopping at St. Kilda's, Bridge Road, Smith Street, and the works. Pretty sweet!

Infront of Krispy Kreme at Melbourne Central. Haha, cause he likes all things sweet and delightful, we brought him to eat all the really good cakes, donuts, ice cream. Yum yum!

Matt, me, Stacey.

Oh. I had to put this in. Haha, me and stacey bought this bra. Nothing special, but I TOTALLY LOVE the colour!! Its soooo gorgeous la!! Oh, and its weird that all 3 of us totally gelled (Don't think there's such a word, but oh well) together. I thought there would be some awkwardness, but there wasn't at all. I'm not close to matt AT ALL, and stacey and him don't even know each other, but the way all of us interacted was as if we knew each other for years. Can you imagine, we were all shopping for lingerie with matt around, just the first day we met him. Haha, and when we were trying out stuff, he was giving us opinions on which coat, or dress, or shoes, or pants is nicer, and vice versa. So cool.

At St Kilda's the next day. We saw 2 EXTREMELY gorgeous and HUMONGOUS dogs. A husky, and the maltese below. Maybe cause its winter, thats why they're much more furrier, hence, the really HUGE look. We saw so many dogs at st kilda's that day. Even one ENORMOUS poodle-like dog that was as big as the husky. Pity it didn't occur to me to take pictures.

Totally love how they style their shop's exterior.

Thats the end of the 2nd week of the holidays.

Third week: Half exam, half PARTYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Third Week:

I wont touch about the exams, but the partying ok. =)

Its been getting colder every week, but there was one particular day where it was just EXTREMELY cold and foggy. It was so foggy, that visibility was like 30 metres. Almost got robbed, but thanks to this guy who came out from the fog and told me not to walk ahead cause he almost got robbed just 10 metres away by teenagers standing against the wall, and blending into the fog. Luckily, he was huge, and he challenged to take all of them on. They backed off, and we both walked to the tram station together.

So one lesson learnt: No walking alone on an extremely foggy day.

Pictures from outside my house.

You can hardly make out the Royal Melbourne Hospital up ahead.

I did my nails after the exams!! Haha, wanted to do stripes but cause the brush was so thick, when I painted, like half of my nail turned black!! So I gave up, and did BIG polka dots using the cotton bud and small dots using the stapler bullets.

Nice?!?!!?!?! Haha, so proud of myself. Heehee.

Then off to the first party on Friday night. Jen invited me to some Monash Uni party at Billboard in Chinatown. The music ain't as good as BLVD, and the crowd was ok only. But all in all, it was good to catch up with him after 3 months of absence.

He's the suburb boy, while I'm the city girl!

I pulled Dave along with me since he'll be returning to the US on Tuesday. Haha, can't believe we're still friends man. We just randomly met each other on the street. He's an exchange student from Boston. Good to know you! =) I'll go visit Boston one day, so bring me around!

Then Saturday was when the real party began! Haha, its partying with my melbourne family, and some extended people!! Post exam party, and somebody's farewell in BLVD!! My favourite place. The crowd, the music, the company. Awesome mix. Had a BLAST.

Jagabombs!! The liquor's to get you high fast, and the red bull's to give you energy to dance the night away! Too bad I was a tad slow in taking the video, but Tavis threw an ice cube, and hit the first red bull glass into the liquor below, and mannnn..dominos!!! SO COOL!!!

Ian and me.

Me and Ling, and don't know what she doing. When you're just happy that exams are over, I guess anything goes. You'd even gladly kiss the plant or do some random thing, and it'll make you happy. Its called Cheap Thrill.

Me, Tavis and Ling.

Tavis, Ling and Ian.

Ok, too many people to name already, so I give up. But the farewell girl is the one wearing green. She's going back to Indonesia for good!

Tequila cheers! except for Ling. Her's Lemon drop.

The gays.

Ling, Jan, Steph. Going crazy already.

Sanly bought so many bottles of champagne for her farewell. Good stuff, but it went to the head just as fast.

And she made this 5 sec, 10 sec rule thing where you had to drink non-stop from the bottle for 5 seconds!

Luckily, she only made me drink 3. Phew!

See, she so happy. Glad you had fun!

And all the exam stress was released.

I had soooo much fun last night. Won't go into details, but thank you everybody for making it the most awesome night ever. Not like you guys would ever see my post, cause I only give my blog to like less than 10 people in Singapore. Muahahaha!..private person I am. But nonetheless, thank you for looking after me. =)

I love you guys!

Second week: Death from chocolate and the dreaded exams.

Second week:

Terrible, dreaded exams.

I won't say much about exams cause there's nothing much to say, other than I've only been here 4 months, and its the final exams. Didn't really study that much, and made the mistake of studying last minute. I guess its the new environment, new friends, short semester and everything that adds up to not wanting to study.

Either way, I did whatever I could in that short period of time. Studied as much as I can, cause 35 chapters per module ain't easy man! Well, all's done. I'll just leave it all to God. Whatever I get, I told Him, I'll be thankful! He was there for me the whole period of craziness, and I really appreciate it. =)

Stuff I did while studying....

Oh. Before I carry on, this is the self-made apple crepes that I said I would show you. Not that impressive, but working on it!

Haha, poor uni student's food during exam period. This is considered very good already. One of the few days I felt like making something. The other days were spend eating the mee goreng from indo mie!! yumyum!! Best instant noodles ever.

Then I'd start to do stupid stuff, like line my highlighters together, and making them pose ridiculous poses. The stress was getting to me, hence, as some of you know that HUGE pimple outbreak. Bleah.

Oh, and I think the outbreak was due to the amount of chocolate I ate also. It was chocolate galore!! I bought a 20 pack Tim Tam for my friend, placed it on my table, but I'm telling you the truth!! The way the Tim Tam stared at me, I promise you it was seduction!! I couldn't take it no more, and I finished half in one night. Had to really control to keep the other half for the next day.

Yumyum, chocolate biscuit with chocolate filling, all covered in creamy chocolate. =)

Haha, and Ian didn't help. He came over to see how I was doing with the studying, and gave me 2 packets of Kit Kat Chocolate Overload. Nonetheless, it didn't survive the night.

The last night of the exam, I had no more chocolates, I ran over to 7-11 and bought some Arnott's Chocolate Fingers. Man, such a pig. I was thinking I might have died from chocolate overdose or either from exam stress.

Then while studying, I saw some of the doodles I made during lectures, and my itchy fingers had to pick up the camera. Anything to get away from studying. I'm the queen procrastinator. Sigh. No discipline at all.

Then Mohan (a Night Safari Keeper also) came over a week before the exams started. The time he landed, it was a last minute thing, but he was dragged to party with me, cause it was one of my close friend's farewell. She'll be back end July, and I miss her already! Angie!! Come Back!!

Me, Ian, Angie.

Thats about it about the exam period. =D

Updates for the 3weeks I went missing.

First Week:

Remember I said my zookeeper friends came over for a conference? Yeah..it was a good experience! I miss them so badly!

I followed them on their first day here to the Melbourne Zoo. We had some of the local keepers bring us around, a real eye opener in comparison to back stage at Night Safari! I guess thats where the huge difference between Asian zoos and Western zoos come into play. We focus more on experience first, then knowledge of the animal. While western zoos, tend to not want "functional keepers", they want keepers with tons of knowledge on the animal, then experience can be build upon.

Also, conservation is a HUGE part of the zoos in western countries. They've got so much support from the government and the society, as I guess westerners tend to be more aware of environmental issues, and the need for conserving the environment and everything that lives in it from the insects to the animals to us.

Thus, due to the huge funding the zoos have here. Their facilities are way cool, and they take utmost pride in upkeeping back stage scenes. Whereas in night safari, ours really look like kampong. Its a whole new scene when you step from the city, right to the sections in Night Safari. I tell you, cycling from one section to another feels like Chinese New Year in the early 1990s in the villages in Malaysia.

Mr Wombat..He's so cute and HUGE!

Listening to Mr John tell us about one of their conservation projects with the Fiji government regarding that Fiji lizard he's holding. Totally forgot the name. I held it and it scratched me!! Now its about a month from then, and the scar is still on my thumb. Ow.

Mul is holding the Thorny Devil. The cutest lizard ever!!! If only you could see that fella's face, its got that "I'm so cute, please don't hurt me!!" face. Heehee, stupidly cute. I wanted to steal one to bring back home!

Oh. It changes colour if its frightened. Gorgeous.

The Philippine fin-tailed dragon. Another amazing and really tough lizard. Endangered.

The Rhode Island Stick Insect. Can you believe it!! Its actually a stick insect!! Very very endangered with only 25 left in the wild. Its noctournal, and when young, looks like a normal stick insect. Only reaches this beautiful armour of black when it passes sexual maturity.

You can hardly see this. So, we're considered lucky to have seen and touch this insect. Not that you guys would catch on. But its an honour man!

Orangutan 20 million facility. I think that zookeeper is so hot! She looks like Evangeline Lily!

Group picture!

And my senior from Night safari. It was good catching up with him! I took him exploring in the city. Brought him to all the dark alleys where its graffiti and cool pubs galore!

The Croft Institute reminds me of The Clinic at The Cannery. It reminds you of an old science lab.

The toilet even has a hospital bed.

And Greco was our last stop!! Haha, we had banana cake and vanilla chocolate chip...yumyum!!
