A City With Attitude

Lining the walls of Melbourne is plenty of graffiti and posters. Gives you a glimpse of the arts here. After living in Melbourne for 3 months plus now, I'm starting to feel that Singapore is too clean for its own good.

It needs culture, it needs attitude. In every alley, there's tons of these graffiti, and I know behind each and every one, there lies a story of anger, sadness, confusion, the need to vent. The need to express. Its made Melbourne into a city with attitude.

But before, you launch into the avalanche of graffiti pictures ahead, I caught this while walking through a lane of cafes and bars. Think they got themselves a tad confused. Hells downstairs, Heaven's upstairs. Get your facts right! =D

Below are pictures I captured while exploring with a friend.
There lies the alleys that come alive.

I'm an owl. Are you?
Only difference is that I don't smoke.

Lady nymph.

Ghost Buster.

Into a world where I belong.

Dead end.
Darkness beckons.
The walls tell their stories.

The cat's crying.
Do you need someone to comfort you?
Are you lonely?
Take me away with you.

Dark and eerie. Sin-ridden, maybe?

Materialism.

Even the bins are coloured.

A mosiac of pictures.

Cute skulls.

Hanging naked by ropes.

Caught red-handed.

Painted pictures.

A break from the pictures. Me trying to kiss the crab!
Is he my prince charming?

Chalk drawings on the ground.

Oh romeo, romeo
Wherefore art thou romeo?
Deny thy father and refuse thy name,
Or if thou wilt not,
Be but sworn my love,
And I'll no longer be a capulet.

The seven seas.

Little Red Riding Hood.

This is of course, me.

Okay, fine, this is me.
Check out my hair! I wanted to streak it blue or green, but the hairdresser refused cause she said bleaching my hair would damaged it, so I streaked it red underneath my black hair. Subtle stuff. =( But I'm still bend on getting my blue.
I want and I will.
Just you wait.

Ramblings

Basically, I've got nothing to write. Haha, cause though my week has been test and assignment-free, I didn't do anything that would interest you guys at home. Its been the same old stuff like, go out chill, have a beer/ice chocolate/hot chocolate, dessert, dinner, and just catch up with good ol' friends that I've not seen for like a week due to the intense studying.

Nonetheless, I'll introduce you to my all-time favourite snack. I MUST have it every week. Always buy it after church. Its.. KRISPY KREME doughnuts! Be it the original glazed (most famous), blueberry, chocolate icing, and many many more,

I LOVE THEM ALL!!

Every week i'll try something different. Its quite hard to stop the cravings. Its already become a habit until everytime i head down to the city, I have to go and buy it. So, if I head down everyday, I'll essentially grow fat but its sooo goood! I even checked whether I could franchise it, and set up one store in Singapore, but its harder than what I expected. =( Below are the criterias. Sigh. But I know it'd work if I set up a store in Singapore. Argh!

Anybody wanna invest?

INTERESTED IN A KRISPY KREME FRANCHISE? HERE ARE THE CRITERIA FOR ALL CANDIDATES

1) Applicants must have current ownership and operating experience or previous ownership and operating experience of multi-unit food service operations in the market that you desire to develop.

2)Our franchisees must possess the capital sufficient to fund the development of the market. We currently grant franchises on an area development basis. Specifically, our area developers are required to build multiple stores (10 or more) in a market. The minimum net worth requirement is $30 million or $1,000,000 per store to be developed, whichever is greater. For instance, a 15-store market requires a minimum net worth of $30,000,000.

3)Area developers must have substantial familiarity with the market proposed for development and be willing to develop multiple units over a period of time. In addition, they must be willing to diligently exert full-time best efforts in performing their obligations under the area development agreement.

Anyway, go check the website out for the doughnut flavours!

Yum yum yum!

This one is devil's delight. Must be due to the chocolate. The icing melts in your mouth, and the donut is fresh, firm and dense. Awesome stuff. Can never go wrong with original glazed as well! My favourite.

This is what I've been doing as well: learning to bake! This is cinnamon cake, hot out of the oven!

My baking skills aren't exactly crème de la crème but I think my apple crepes are good for a beginner! One day, I'll take a picture and put it here! Craving for it now also. Will make it for you guys one day! =D

Next best thing in Melbourne, Bratwurst! This one is spicy. I know in Singapore they sell it as well. If I'm not wrong, its in Plaza Sing ground floor, but nothing beats eating from the place that made it famous. The sausage's skin is crisp, the meat tender, tasteful and titillating. When you bite into it, the juice of the sausage just oozes out, and accompanied with baguette, is just....i dun know. I'm just lost for words now.

HUNGRY!!

Its freaking 3am, and I'm hungry. Bleah. Blogging about food doesn't help at all.

Below are just random pictures I took during the week.

Green Cauliflower sold in supermarts here. Damn gross la. Like some genetically-modified food. Maybe they put in GFP (Green Fluorescent Protein).

An ad I saw in the magazine. Haha, I think its quite amusing.

Next, vain photos of myself trying on some dresses. Obviously, I'm very free.

Can't believe I'm so vain. Oh well, thats what you get when you don't want to study, you've got nothing to do, and your room mate's not in. You play dress-up. =D

I know I look chubbier ( told you i've grown fatter), but not to worry!..I'm still borderline underweight, its just that the fats just don't know where to go. I need them in the bust n butt, but they always end up on my face and tummy. Bleah. Just started working out, so in due time, I'll be tone! Whee!

This is the church I attend. Cross Cultural Church of Christ. I just realised they've got so many Cs. Its an alliteration!

City scenary. Look at the clear blue sky!

Entrance of RMIT. Funky, cool, weird, odd, and..just queer. Like their students. Haha. Uni of Melb students are known as the NERDS. Bleah.

Caught this tram as it rode past RMIT. Love it! So red, and dotted with cranberries. Haha, you should see the TV ad for this juice. It pokes fun of Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie, David and Victoria Beckhams' intelligence. Sweet.

Streets.

I was walking back one day, when I saw many hot-air balloons in the sky. Quite a normal sight actually. I've got no idea what they're doing or where they're coming from, but its really quite peculiar. They're so BIG, so slow, but so grand. Pity the camera can't capture.

oo! My keeper friends are confirmed coming over! Haha, soooooo EXCITED!!! Whee! and Gera, I hope you get the job as a part-time animal keeper! Best job in the WHOLE WIDE WORLD. Keepers are just awesome people...

Period. =D

Euphoria

Euphoria - a feeling of elation/happiness, exaggerated in pathological states as mania

Its 10.30 am now, and my hectic weeks are officially over til the exams in june!!! Whee!!!

Seriously, I've never studied so hard for an MCQ test before. Pure, intense studying for 5 days straight, trying to cram like 20 freaking chapters of Immunology. Was on the verge of insanity. The multitudes of facts were just too much to bear.

But, I'm to blame anyway. I haven't been listening in class at all. Haha, when I look at my notes, I'm in horror, cause they're all blank!! Seriously, its like I've got Immune lectures 3 times a week, but it seems that the 3 hours are permanently blocked out from my memory. All I know is that by the time I snap out of my "stoning", the lecture's just about over, and I'm like "That's fast..". Occasionally, my notes have scribblings which I don't remember writing at all. Sometimes they're just ramblings, or a mixture of what the lecturer said, metamorphasized into stories of flowers, love, and robots.

Anyway, its over!! I thought I did pretty well for the test. I borrowed the textbook, copied down all the information onto my notes, and made sure I understood the whole thing. Oh well, I did my best!
God can do everything else. =)

May's going to be a good month! I've got so many things to be happy for.

1) My tests are finally over!! So, its tons of partying and chilling and going crazy!

2) I'm done with almost all my assignments except for 1 which I'm about 3/4 done.

and the only real fact that makes may an awesome month is that...

3)Some of my colleagues from the Night Safari are coming over from may 18 - 24!!! How awesome is that!! They're coming for some keepers' conference. I'm sooooooo excited. The anticipation is driving me absolutely insane. When I see them at the airport, I'll probably run and jump into their arms, give them a BIG hug and kiss them all over. I've been jumping around my room the last few hours after knowing they're coming. Freakin' Awesome.

I'm not close to all of them, but at least my closest friend in Night Safari is coming! WHOO!!! Sorry for all the exclamation marks, but even as I type this, I'm quivering with excitement. woOHOO!!!

Haha, oh well, enough of my nonsense. Here are some random pics.

Too bad the picture can't relate the size of the crow, but compared to Singapores' crows, melbourne ones are HUMONGOUS!! Plus, they're so irritating as well. They're way louder than the ones back home, and the worst thing is that, they seem to like to perch at the top of my apartment and start crowing at the top of their lungs. I get waken at ungodly hours by these stupid birds. No sense of timing. Tsk tsk. But then again, my sleeping hours are also as screwed. =) As you can see, they're like half the size of the tyre! But the picture doesn't give it justice. Come here to melbourne and see them yourselves! I'll gladly welcome you as well!! =D

And as usual, doodles on my lecture notes. Immune lectures to be exact.

Still recovering from my pimple outbreak, and I think I'm growing fat! Goodness.
